Youth Communities Assessment

The National Youth Employment Coalition (NYEC) offers a comprehensive framework called the Youth Champion Communities Framework (YCCF) to help communities assess and improve their capacities to support young people. This initiative aims to gather data and metrics to understand what a community that best supports its youth truly looks like. The framework includes recommended actions, examples, and tools to help communities implement effective strategies.

NYEC's assessments focus on several key domains, such as developing a collaborative youth ecosystem, promoting high-quality education and training options, ensuring holistic support for all young people, and promoting health and well-being. By conducting community self-assessments, NYEC helps communities develop strategic plans and implement tools that focus on system-level impacts to support young people and sustain economic mobility.

Through initiatives like the Mayors Challenge, NYEC partners with cities to evaluate their youth service ecosystems, identify gaps, and develop holistic frameworks that uplift practices and policies needed for young people to thrive. This involves engaging local leaders, community organizations, and young people with lived experience to ensure that the assessments are comprehensive and impactful.
